Schools in Thailand provide basic education, which covers pre-primary, primary and secondary education.Though most schools provide formal education following the National Curriculum, certain specialised schools may provide non-formal education.
The Malaysian government reversed its decision to have Maths and Science taught in English, but is implementing different programmes designed to improve English language teaching within schools. [31] The decision has raised numerous debates, with various groups arguing for and against the use of English in schools. [ 32 ]
It is a private school that is located in the center of downtown Bangkok. It was previously an all-girls school. It is now a mixed school with separate Thai and English programs. The school was established on 28 February 1934 and was officially approved on 10 January 1937. It initially offered Grades 1 to 4.
In recent years, the number of fresh graduates from teacher-training schools has ranged from 50,000 to 60,000 annually, raising concerns about quality and oversupply. The government is trying to reduce the number of graduates from teacher-education programmes to no more than 25,000 a year and direct those graduates to underserved localities.
The majority of teachers and boarding staff are British. There are also Irish, Australian, New Zealand, Canadian and American staff. All are first language English speakers except for Thai, Mandarin, Spanish and French language teachers and all teaching staff have UK accredited Qualified Teacher Status.

The school was located on Soi Prong Jai in the Sathorn area of Bangkok and welcomed 120 students into kindergarten through eighth grade when it opened in August 1993. In the third year of operation the International Community School Educational Foundation assumed ownership and remains the current owner of the school.
Bangkok Patana School was founded in 1957 to provide a British-style education for the children of English-speaking expatriates and others living in Bangkok. It is Thailand's oldest British international school. As of 2010, it is also the largest British school in the country. [2]
