Greene County is located in the southwestern portion of Ohio. As of the 2020 census, the population was 167,966. [2] Its county seat is Xenia and its largest city is Beavercreek. [3] The county was established on March 24, 1803 [4] and named for General Nathanael Greene, [5] an officer in the Revolutionary War.

It is the only township in the county with a border on Madison County. An uninhabited portion of the village of Jamestown is located in southern Ross Township. The highest point in Greene County, 1,135 feet (346 m), is located 2.2 miles (3.5 km) west of the northeastern corner of the county, [4] in northern Ross Township. [5]
