Athaliah (Hebrew: עֲתַלְיָה, Modern: ʻAtalya, Tiberian: ʿĂṯalyā, Greek: Γοθολία Gotholía; Latin: Athalia) was the daughter of King Ahab and Queen Jezebel of Israel; she was queen consort of Judah as the wife of King Jehoram, a descendant of King David, and was later queen regnant c. 841–835 BCE.

Jehoiada (Hebrew: יְהוֹיָדָע Yəhōyāḏā‘, "Yahweh knows") in the Hebrew Bible, was a prominent priest in the kingdom of Judah during the reigns of Ahaziah (reigned c. 842 - 841 BCE), Athaliah (reigned c. 841–835 BCE), and Joash (reigned c. 836–796 BC).
Dalley based her argument on the name Atalia being similar, and perhaps etymologically identical, to the name Athaliah (borne by a Judean queen who ruled about a century earlier), that the ending of the name (i-a or ia-a) could represent a theophoric element deriving from Yahweh, and that Atalia and Iaba might have been related.
