The Skirvin Hotel is a 225-room hotel located in downtown Oklahoma City and the city's oldest hotel. [1] Comprising three towers of 13 floors in an Art Deco architectural style, it is listed on the National Register of Historic Places .
William Balser Skirvin (November 10, 1860 – March 25, 1944) [1] was an American real estate developer and oil millionaire. [2] He is best known for his establishment of the Skirvin Hotel , an Oklahoma City landmark now listed on the National Register of Historic Places .
Crews broke ground on the Skirvin Tower in March 1931. Work continued until suddenly in January 1932 when William Balser Skirvin ran out of funds for the project. [1] Work was halted until 1934, and completed in 1938. [1] In 1974, the building was remodeled into a glass-enclosed office building. [5]
The Peery Hotel, now part of Hilton's Tapestry Collection, is a historic landmark "with architecture rooted in the early prairie and classical revival styles of the time."
