The Edinburgh Festival Fringe (also referred to as the Edinburgh Fringe, the Fringe or the Edinburgh Fringe Festival) is the world's largest performance arts festival, which in 2024 spanned 25 days, sold more than 2.6 million tickets and featured more than 51,446 scheduled performances of 3,746 different shows across 262 venues from 60 different countries.
Beginning in 2011 in London, [1] the original cast members took the show to the Edinburgh Festival Free Fringe in the summer of 2012. Following their initial success, they began performing a monthly show in London, transferring to the West End in 2017, and have since performed on BBC Radio 4 , on tour, and at the Edinburgh Fringe.
The full programme of events included Shakespeare, T.S. Eliot, the medieval morality play Everyman, and a play about notorious Edinburgh criminals Burke and Hare, The Anatomist. The ISH Edinburgh Comedy Awards are presented to the comedy shows deemed to have been the best at the Edinburgh Festival Fringe. Established in 2023, awards are given to Best Show, Best Newcomer and a Panel Prize and are judged by a panel of judges [ 1 ] on a voluntary basis who see all eligible comedy shows. [ 2 ]

Underbelly is a live events producer and venue operator, known as one of the "Big Four" venue operators at the Edinburgh Festival Fringe. [1] From its roots as a Fringe venue, the company has expanded to include a festival on London 's South Bank and seasonal events in Edinburgh and elsewhere.
The festival began in 2000, with fifteen concerts in its first year. It was founded by Dave Corbett, after realising the lack of contemporary music taking place at the Edinburgh Festival. [5] Since 2000, T on the Fringe has played host to some of the most commercially successful artists as well as the best in alternative and emerging talent.
The 2003 Edinburgh Festival Fringe was the 56th Edinburgh Festival Fringe. The Fringe ran from 3–25 August 2003 and presented 1541 shows over 207 venues. 2003 was the first year that over one million tickets were sold at the Fringe.
