Five Points (or The Five Points) was a 19th-century neighborhood in Lower Manhattan, New York City.The neighborhood, partly built on low-lying land which had filled in the freshwater lake known as the Collect Pond, was generally defined as being bound by Centre Street to the west, the Bowery to the east, Canal Street to the north, and Park Row to the south.

Before the park's establishment, Mulberry Bend was an alley Riis considered the "foul core of New York’s slums." Riis, "friend of the tenement house children," [6] campaigned for the creation of the park.

The 2012 video game Assassin's Creed III has the "Boston Brawlers Tournament" in Boston, Massachusetts, within an old brewery modeled after the former Five Points building.
