Over the years some of the original cast members have died, left the show or retired, and their characters have had to be replaced or killed off by the scriptwriters. One of those was the character of Simon Cooper (Eddie Robinson) a farm hand working on the farm from the very first pilot episode until his death in 1956.
Archers Addicts was the official body, run by members of the cast. The club had five thousand members [ 120 ] and an online shop where Archers memorabilia was sold under licence. It closed as a club on 31 December 2013 but still has a Facebook page and Twitter feed.

Margaret "Peggy" Woolley (also Perkins and Archer), is a fictional character from the BBC Radio 4 soap opera The Archers. Portrayed by June Spencer for over 60 years, Peggy has served as the core family's – and by extension, the village's – matriarch.
