The Grand Lodge of Tennessee, officially the Grand Lodge of the Ancient and Honorable Fraternity of Free and Accepted Masons of the State of Tennessee, is the main governing body of Freemasonry within Tennessee. This Grand Lodge was established in Knoxville, Tennessee, on December 27, 1813, by nine Masonic lodges operating within the state. [1]

Likely initiated in St. Tammany Lodge #1 between 1788 and 1800; Royal Arch Mason, likely receiving the degrees in lodge, but was never a member of a Chapter; Grand Master of Tennessee in 1822, 1823. Andrew Jackson is the only Grand Master of Tennessee who had never served as a Worshipful Master or Warden of a lodge.

Founded December 14, 1805, Overton Lodge was, at the time of its formation, a part of the Grand Lodge of North Carolina and Tennessee. The Lodge was named in honor of John Overton, 1766-1833, by John Williams. Overton was a prominent Tennessee jurist and Freemason, who practiced law with another young lawyer and Freemason, Andrew Jackson.
After the end of World War II the Grand Lodge of Vienna was formally re-established on 4 August 1945. In 1952 UGLE restored relations with her. 1955 after the end of the Allied occupation of Austria the Grandlodge changed its name into Grand Lodge of Austria. The Grand Lodge of Austria has currently 77 lodges with approx. 3500 brethren. [15]
