St. Ignatius Church is a historic Catholic church in Baltimore, Maryland within the Archdiocese of Baltimore. Established and administered by the Society of Jesus , the church is dedicated to Saint Ignatius of Loyola , the order's founder.
The church was designed by Carlo Lurago in the early Baroque style, and built between 1655 and 1677. [1] The church was built as part of the new Nove Mesto residence of the city's Jesuits, the third largest Jesuit complex in Europe, [2] and dedicated to their patron saint and founder of the Jesuit Order, St. Ignatius of Loyola.
Later, Ignatius was chosen to serve as Bishop of Antioch; the fourth-century Church historian Eusebius writes that Ignatius succeeded Evodius. [12] Theodoret of Cyrrhus claimed that St. Peter himself left directions that Ignatius be appointed to this episcopal see . [ 13 ]
The present Saint Ignatius Church is the fifth such church to be built in San Francisco. Its history runs parallel to that of USF and St. Ignatius College Prep: the very first Saint Ignatius was built in 1855 as a small wood-frame church beside a schoolhouse that became Saint Ignatius Academy, USF's predecessor.

The Church of Saint Ignatius Loyola is a heritage-listed Roman Catholic church at 46 Grove Street, Toowong, City of Brisbane, Queensland, Australia. It was designed by architect Jack Hennessy, junior, and built from 1929 to 1936 by Concrete Construction (QLD) Limited. It was added to the Queensland Heritage Register on 12 July 2005. [1]
