Weatherford (/ ˈ w ɛ ð ər f ər d /) [5] is a city in and the county seat of Parker County, Texas, United States. In 2020, its population was 30,854. [ 6 ] Weatherford is named after Thomas J. Weatherford, a State senator and advocate for Texas's secession to the Confederate States during the American Civil War .
Parker County is a county located in the U.S. state of Texas. As of the 2020 census, its population was 148,222. [1] The county seat is Weatherford. [2] The county was created in 1855 and organized the following year. [3] It is named for Isaac Parker, a state legislator who introduced the bill that established the county in 1855. [4]
Lake Weatherford is a lake located in Weatherford, Texas. [2] The lake stands to the north-east of the city, north of Hudson Oaks and Willow Park. [3] The Clear Fork of the Trinity River flows into the lake. [4]
Just inside Interstate 820, SH 199 enters the city limits of Fort Worth and intersects State Highway 183 just northeast of River Oaks. SH 199 crosses over both the West and Clear Forks of the Trinity River and enters Downtown Fort Worth. At 5th Street, the highway turns south before ending at an interchange with Interstate 30/U.S. Route 377. [2]
