Mary Brown's Centre (formerly Mile One Centre) is an indoor arena and entertainment venue located in downtown St. John's, Newfoundland and Labrador, Canada. The arena opened in May, 2001, replacing Memorial Stadium .
On September 18, 2017, the city of St. John's approved the team to play at Mile One Centre. [2] The team is owned by Atlantic Sport Enterprises Ltd, then consisting of John Graham with Irwin Simon and Robert Sabbagh. [3]

The convention centre was built in May 2001 along with its sister building Mile One Centre, directly across the street. Both buildings are operated by St. John's Sports & Entertainment Ltd. SJCC is linked to Mile One Centre and the Delta St. John's Hotel by a pedway system.
From that point two rival groups formed: the operators of the St. John's Edge basketball team, which played at the Mile One Centre, who wanted a Quebec Major Junior Hockey League (QMJHL) franchise for the arena; and another, led by local businessman Dean MacDonald and Glenn Stanford of the former IceCaps, who were looking for an ECHL team. They remained at Memorial Stadium for ten seasons until moving to the newly built Mile One Centre in downtown St. John's in 2001. The Maple Leafs were a successful team throughout their time in St. John's and made multiple appearances in the AHL Calder Cup playoffs (missing the playoffs in 2000, 2003, and 2004).
The terminus of the Trans-Canada Highway in Victoria, at the foot of Douglas Street and Dallas Road at Beacon Hill Park, is also marked by a "mile zero" monument. St. John's downtown arena, Mary Brown's Centre, was originally branded under naming rights as "Mile One Centre" in reference to the geography of the region. [18] [19]
The team signed a five-year lease to play their homes games at the Mary Brown's Centre in downtown St. John's. Their first game, as part of the ABA's 2021–22 season, took place on November 27 against the New York State's Elmira Eagles , a fellow member of the league's Northeast Division. [ 3 ]
