Covington is a city in central Tipton County, Tennessee, United States. Covington is the second largest city and county seat of Tipton County. [ 5 ] The city is located in West Tennessee , 12 mi (19 km) east of the Mississippi River .
[2] [3] In 1839, a Presbyterian congregation that had been organized 10 years earlier in Covington was merged into the Mount Carmel church. [4] The Mt. Carmel church continued to operate until 2000, when it merged its membership and assets with First Presbyterian Church of Covington. [5] The church building was completed in 1854.
