Dayton was a post-disco funk band, formed in Dayton, Ohio, United States by Chris Jones (trumpet, keyboards, vocals) from the band Sun and Shawn Sandridge (guitar, vocals) from Over Night Low. Derrick Armstrong (vocals), Kevin Hurt ( drums , percussion ), Jenny Douglas (vocals) and Rachel Beavers (vocals) completed the line up.
The mid-1980s saw some interest in re-uniting various band members for a few engagements. The last known appearances of The Daytonas were at a concert in upstate New York on July 4, 1995, [4] at the Woodward Dream Cruise in Michigan in 2000 and 2002, and at The Baby Boomer Legends concert at "The Factory" in Franklin, Tennessee on April 24, 2015.
After the release of Mind Glitter, the band quietly went on hiatus partially thanks to the move of bassist Tod Weidner across the country, until a reunion show in Dayton was announced to be performed July 19, 2024.
