Mount Airy's Main Street, formerly MD 27 and now Maryland Route 808, runs atop Parrs Ridge in a northeast–southwest direction with elevations ranging between 800 and 850 feet (240 and 260 m). Numerous valleys that extend outward toward the east and west from this ridge give the town its unusually hilly topography.
A group of early-20th century commercial structures represent the rebuilding of Mount Airy's downtown after a series of fires between 1903 and 1926. The residential areas are characterized by houses illustrating vernacular forms and popular stylistic influences of the late 19th and early 20th century. Mount Airy is a historic home at Davidsonville, Anne Arundel County, Maryland. It is a two-story, cube-shaped brick Georgian-Federal style, late neo-classical dwelling with a Doric portico on a central hall plan. It was built about 1857 for James Alexis Iglehart, whose children were educated by their French tutor in the family schoolhouse.
The Mount Airy Mansion is a historic building near Upper Marlboro in Prince George's County, Maryland.Expanded c. 1751 on the site of the 17th century hunting lodge of Charles Calvert, 3rd Baron Baltimore by his great-grandson Benedict Swingate Calvert, the mansion today is managed by the Maryland Department of Natural Resources within the Rosaryville State Park.
