In 1988, Bob Dylan (who owned the Orpheum from 1979 to 1988) sold it to the City of Minneapolis. [4] Following a $10 million restoration, the Orpheum re-opened in December 1993. In 2005, the city transferred ownership of its theaters to the Hennepin Theatre Trust (now known as Hennepin Arts).

The 2019 LCMS Youth Gathering took place July 11–15, 2019 at several downtown Minneapolis venues, including U.S. Bank Stadium. The 2021 ELCA Youth Gathering was scheduled to be held at the stadium from June 29 to July 3 but due to COVID-19 it was postponed to July 24–28, 2022 before it was canceled altogether and moved to 2024 in New Orleans.
The Minneapolis Convention Center is a large convention center located in downtown Minneapolis, Minnesota that opened in 1990. [1] It is located one block away from Nicollet Mall near Orchestra Hall. The Minneapolis Convention Center has a quadruple-domed roof and because of its volume can host multiple events on the same day.
The Uptown Theater was purchased by Swervo Development and it is planned to reopen as a music and event venue on May 5, 2023. [ 8 ] The theater's iconic sign was removed for restoration in September of 2022 and replaced with a replica on August 16, 2023.
