Krotz Springs is a town in St. Landry Parish, Louisiana, United States, on the Atchafalaya River. The population was 1,198 at the 2010 census , down from 1,219 in 2000 . It is part of the Opelousas – Eunice Micropolitan Statistical Area .
Louisiana Highway 975 (LA 975) is a gravel [2] state highway in central Louisiana.It runs north–south for 18.4 miles (29.6 km). [1] The southern terminus is at Whiskey Bay in Iberville Parish, and the northern terminus is east of Krotz Springs at a junction with U.S. Route 190 (US 190) and the north, south LA 973, in Pointe Coupee Parish.
The southern terminus of US 71 is located in Louisiana, beginning between Port Barre and Krotz Springs, at an intersection with U.S. 190.The highway follows a northwesterly course through Louisiana, passing through the communities of Alexandria, Montgomery, Coushatta, and Shreveport.
The current eastbound span opened in 1988. In September 2015, the bridge was named for Krotz Springs Port officials Frank and Sal Diesi. [3] Old Krotz Springs Bridge, replaced by dual span bridges in 1973. New Krotz Springs bridge span, the one on the right was built in 1973, and the one on the left was built in 1988.
