Dean Hodes (Andy Milder, regular character in season 3, guest character in seasons 1–2 and 4–7) is Isabelle and Quinn's father and Celia's husband; in the first season, he is also Nancy's lawyer and Doug's poker buddy. Dean loves Isabelle, but has a constantly antagonistic relationship with Celia, which eventually leads to a divorce.

On July 11, 2006, Lionsgate released the first season of Weeds on the DVD format; the season was released on the Blu-ray Disc format on May 29, 2007. In addition to the ten episodes, both formats contain bonus content including six audio commentaries, behind the scenes with cast and crew, two featurettes, and season trailers.
The story turns out to be even more pathetic than that: the DVD box set of Season 2 was banned because of a five-minute 'extra' on the DVD. It was a cookery-style sketch which extolled the virtues of various strains of dope.
