Originating as the first-ever AMA National Hare Scramble, High Point Raceway has hosted a total of 18 Grand National Cross Country Series events. After the 1979 event, the venue would not be visited again for a cross country event until being added to the GNCC schedule in 1987 and remained a part of the series until 2002.
Hare scrambles are conducted on closed course tracks which can vary from 2.5 to 40 mi (4.0 to 64.4 km) or more. The terrain is wooded and fairly rugged in order to test the riders' skills and endurance. The majority of the course consists of a wooded, single and double width trail, with occasional pasture and sand crossings.
Brandon Robinson. American Flat Track is an American motorcycle racing series. [1] The racing series, founded and sanctioned by the American Motorcyclist Association (AMA) in 1954, originally encompassed five distinct forms of competitions including mile dirt track races, half-mile, short-track, TT steeplechase and road races.
