The Chicago Board of Trade Building is a 44-story, 604-foot (184 m) Art Deco skyscraper located in the Chicago Loop, standing at the foot of the LaSalle Street canyon. The building is now the Charles Hayes Family Investment Center operated by the Chicago Housing Authority. The mural was created in 1974 by William Walker,"father of the Chicago mural movement" and commissioned by the Illinois Labor History Society with funding from the Illinois Arts Council. The mural was restored in 1998 by Bernard Williams.
