Alan Adler is an American inventor. His inventions include aerodynamic toys under the Aerobie brand, such as footballs with fins, flying rings and discs, as well as a manual coffee brewing device, the AeroPress. His Aerobie Pro flying ring set several world records for the farthest thrown object. [1]
The design may have inspired later 'Maps of World History' such as the HistoMap by John B. Sparks, which chronicles four thousand years of world history in a graphic way similar to the enlarging and contracting nation streams presented on Adam's chart. With Irving Block he wrote the story for the screenplay for the movie Forbidden Planet , based on Shakespeare 's The Tempest , [ 1 ] but during the Second Red Scare of the 1950s he was blacklisted from the movie industry.
