Claremont ( / ˈklɛərmɒnt /) is a suburban city in Los Angeles County, California, United States, 30 miles (48 km) east of Los Angeles. It lies in the eastern portion of the county, in Pomona Valley, at the foothills of the San Gabriel Mountains. As of the 2010 census it had a population of 34,926, [ 7] and in 2020 the population was 37,266.
Berkeley's initial public library building, funded by a Carnegie grant in 1903, was designed by John Galen Howard, the Beaux Arts architect of the University of California.
