Russell is a neighborhood immediately west of downtown Louisville, Kentucky, U.S.. It is nicknamed "Louisville's Harlem". [ 1 ] It was named for renowned African American educator and Bloomfield, Kentucky native, Harvey Clarence Russell Sr .

Blackacre was first settled by the Tyler Family, who arrived in Louisville in 1780. Edward Tyler II purchased a Treasury Warrant allowing him to lay claim to a parcel of land. Moses Tyler was transferred, a portion of that, the 220 acres (89 ha) that now compromise the majority of Blackacre. Later the land was given to Moses's son, Presley.

The statue is located at Waterfront Park in Louisville, Kentucky. [2] The Lincoln Memorial in Louisville is part of the Lincoln Heritage Trail. [3] The statue and its accompanying bas-relief historical panels were created by American sculptor Ed Hamilton. Landscape design for Waterfront Park was by Hargreaves Associates.
