The Cadillac Sixteen is a concept car first developed and presented by Cadillac in 2003.. The vehicle is equipped with a Cadillac proprietary-developed aluminum 32-valve V16 engine displacing 13.6 liters (829 cu. in; 13,584 cc), which was exclusive to the Sixteen and based on the GM Generation IV LS architecture. [4]
The Cadillac Sixteen concept debuted in 2003 utilized an all-aluminium pushrod V16 engine based on the same architecture as GM's then-current small-block V8 developments. [7] [8] A production version with a base V8 and the option of the V12 engine was planned, but was never approved for production and was ultimately shelved around 2008. [9]
The Cadillac V-16 (also known as the Cadillac Sixteen) was Cadillac's top-of-the-line model from its January 1930 launch until 1940. The V16 powered car was a first in the United States, both extremely expensive and exclusive, with every chassis being custom-finished to order.
The 2003 Cadillac Sixteen concept car was unveiled with a 13.6 L (830 cu in) V16 engine, which was based on the General Motors LS V8 engines. [4] The following year, the Rolls-Royce 100EX concept car was unveiled with a 9.0 L (549 cu in) V16 engine.
The concept itself is a running vehicle, based on the brand’s Ultium platform that also underpins the Celestiq. In fact, the Sollei shares nearly everything with the sedan ahead of the A-pillars.
