Belle Meade is a city in Davidson County, Tennessee. Its total land area is 3.1 square miles (8.0 km 2), and its population was 2,901 at the time of the 2020 census. Richland Creek is a stream in the western part of Nashville, Tennessee, in Davidson County. [1] It winds for 28 miles (45 km) through the Nashville suburbs of Belle Meade and Forest Hills [2] and eventually flows into the Cumberland River near Rock Harbor Marina at the end of Robertson Avenue. [3]
West Meade, named because it was the Western portion of Belle Meade Plantation, was the home of Justice Howell Edmunds Jackson and his wife, Mary Elizabeth (née Harding). [3] It was not until 1944 that Mary and Howell Jackson's children sold West Meade to a group of investors headed by E. A. Wortham and Brownlee O. Currey.
SR 1 begins as a primary route on Interstate 55 (I-55) in the middle of the Memphis & Arkansas Bridge at the Arkansas–Tennessee state line. US 61, US 64, US 70, US 78, and US 79 come off the bridge alongside SR 1; US 61 soon turns south with SR 14 and US 78 continues along E.H. Crump Blvd with SR 4 heading eastward.
