Created on February 7, 2024. My screen is locked with a message that windows defender has locked it and to call 1-888-261-7462. A pop up screen has popped up and it says windows defender has locked my computer for security reasons and to call 1-888-261-7462. There is a recording saying this over and over.
Windows defender offline scan: behaved normally (warned of reboot, reboot, scan) came up clean. Pop-ups resumed when network was turned on. Taskmgr doesn't show anything I recognize as bad in startup apps list or in running processes, but I'm not current enough to know what processes might be bad.
