Gene Winfield (born June 16, 1927) is an American automotive customizer and fabricator. [1] In the mid-1960s, his designs caught the attention of the film community, resulting in a large body of his work appearing on screen, including in the iconic 1982 film Blade Runner.
In high school, Hines preferred art and shop classes to academics, and 1941, while in Grade 11, dropped out to rent a garage in Ecorse, Michigan, where he set up a custom shop. [2] It was there he began working with lead body filler. [2] His first project was a 1934 Ford, fitted with a flathead V8 with milled heads. [4]
His repertoire included chop, channel, section, lowering, custom grilles, lead work, and sculpting headlights and fenders. In 2004, Dean appeared on an episode of the television show Monster Garage with several of his peers (including Gene Winfield, and Bill Hines) to customize a 1954 Chevy sedan for the show's host, Jesse James.

In November 1997, Foose became the youngest person to be inducted into the Hot Rod Hall of Fame. Additionally, Foose was inducted into the Darryl Starbird Rod & Custom Car Museum Hall of Fame in 2002, the Grand National Roadster Show Hall of Fame in 2003, the Detroit Autorama "Circle of Champions" [14] Hall of Fame in 2012, and the San Francisco Rod and Custom Motorcycle Hall of Fame in 2005.
