The Premier Ultimate League (PUL) is a professional women's ultimate league that formed in 2019. The mission of the PUL is "to achieve equity in the sport of ultimate by increasing accessibility to the sport for, and visibility of women, transgender, intersex, non-binary, genderqueer, and genderfluid people through high-quality competition, leadership experiences, and community partnerships".
The WUL started with a 2017 and 2018 series of women's and mixed showcase games affiliated with the American Ultimate Disc League (now the Ultimate Frisbee Association), and a 2019 series of professional women's showcase games along the west coast including games between Seattle, Portland, and Vancouver-based teams and between Los Angeles and San Diego–based teams.
The Atlanta Soul is a professional women's ultimate frisbee team based in Atlanta which competes in the Premier Ultimate League (PUL). The team joined the PUL for the league's inaugural 2019 season. [1] The team is also noteworthy for their sponsorship of the Color of Ultimate: ATL game, the first Color of Ultimate showcase game. [2]

On December 3, 2019 the PUL, which had held its inaugural season in 2019, [4] [5] announced that it would be adding four new teams including the Milwaukee Monarchs, Washington DC Shadow, Portland Rising, [6] [7] and Minnesota Strike.
The league's matches are streamed nationally on Peacock. The USLS was established in September 2021 as part of an effort to establish a youth-to-pro pathway for women's players within the USL system. Initially planned as a division two league, numerous USL clubs explored fielding women's teams in the league, with eight markets being decided upon.
Portland Rising formed for the 2020 season as part of a 4 team expansion to the PUL. [3] [4] [5] The team is owned by Chloë Rowse and is the first professional sports team to feature women, non-binary, trans, and genderfluid athletes in Maine. [3]
