It was released in December 1965 by Fantasy Records to coincide with the television debut of the television special A Charlie Brown Christmas featuring the Peanuts comic characters.
The resulting album, Jazz Impressions of A Boy Named Charlie Brown, proved to be popular enough to retain Guaraldi's services for A Charlie Brown Christmas.
