The Gjermundbu helmet is a Viking Age helmet. [1] [2]The helmet was discovered during field clearing in 1943 at the Gjermundbu farm near Haugsbygd in the municipality of Ringerike in Buskerud, Norway.
The helmet was discovered on 12 May 1982 during excavations for the Jorvik Viking Centre in York, North Yorkshire. [32] The York Archaeological Trust had previously excavated 1000 m 2 in the area from 1976 to 1981, finding evidence of Roman occupation in the area but very little indication of Anglo-Saxon settlement. [33]
The Yarm helmet is a circa 10th-century Viking Age Anglo-Scandinavian helmet that was found in Yarm in the North Riding of Yorkshire, England.It is the first relatively complete Anglo-Scandinavian helmet found in Britain and only the second relatively complete/intact Viking helmet discovered in north-west Europe.

Splint armor is most commonly found as greaves or vambraces. It first appears in a Scythian grave from the 4th century BC [ 1 ] then in the Swedish Migration Era ; [ 2 ] and again in the 14th century as part of transitional armour , where it was also used to form cuisses and rerebraces .
