Culver Academies is a college preparatory boarding school located in Culver, Indiana, which is composed of three entities: Culver Military Academy (CMA) for boys, Culver Girls Academy (CGA), and the Culver Summer Schools and Camps (CSSC). Culver Military Academy was founded in 1894 by Henry Harrison Culver.
Students at these academies are organized as cadets, and graduate with appropriate licenses from the U.S. Coast Guard and/or the U.S. Merchant Marine.While not immediately offered a commission as an officer within a service, cadets do have the opportunity to participate in commissioning programs like the Strategic Sealift Officer Program (Navy) and Maritime Academy Graduate (Coast Guard).

Howe Military Academy was a private, co-educational and college preparatory boarding school located on a 100-acre (0.40 km 2) campus in Howe, Indiana. The school, which enrolled students for grades 5 through 12, opened in 1884, and closed after the 2018–19 academic year.

A military school teaches children of various ages (elementary school, middle school or high school) in a military environment which includes training in military aspects, such as drill. Many military schools are also boarding schools, and others are simply magnet schools in a larger school system.
The Indiana Soldiers' and Sailors' Children's Home was home to Morton Memorial Schools (the school was K–12 grade). Each classroom size was between 20 and 30 students, so the students received the individual attention needed for them to succeed. The school was on a core 40 system.
