The differential diagnosis for autoimmune urticaria includes other conditions that can cause hives or similar skin reactions. [32] These can include allergic reactions, other types of urticaria such as physical urticaria (triggered by physical stimuli such as pressure, cold, or heat), and conditions such as mastocytosis and mast cell activation ...
Cat skin disorders are among the most common health problems in cats. Skin disorders in cats have many causes, and many of the common skin disorders that afflict people have a counterpart in cats. The condition of a cat's skin and coat can also be an important indicator of its general health.
Several theories have been put forth, however the pathophysiology of pressure urticaria is unknown. [3] Although there isn't an obvious early cutaneous reaction, the time of the reaction following the application of pressure to the skin, the shape of the lesions, and the infiltrating cells observed on histopathologic examination are indicative of a late-phase reaction. Contact dermatitis is a type of acute or chronic inflammation of the skin caused by exposure to chemical or physical agents. [1] Symptoms of contact dermatitis can include itchy or dry skin, a red rash, bumps, blisters, or swelling. These rashes are not contagious or life-threatening, but can be very uncomfortable.
Symptoms can include both dermatological and gastrointestinal signs [3] such as itchy skin, hair loss and excessive scratching. In cases of feline atopic dermatitis or atopy in cats, pruritic skin diseases may result; however, signs can also include miliary dermatitis, symmetrical alopecia, and lesions of the eosinophilic granuloma complex. [4]

Diagnosis is by visualization, direct microscopy and culture. [3] Psoriasis of the palms, pompholyx and contact dermatitis may appear similar. [3] Treatment is usually with long-term topical antifungal medications. [5] If not resolving, terbinafine or itraconazole taken by mouth might be options. [5] It occurs worldwide. [3]
[19] [20] Clinically, the diagnosis of any particular skin condition is made by gathering pertinent information regarding the presenting skin lesion(s), including the location (such as arms, head, legs), symptoms (pruritus, pain), duration (acute or chronic), arrangement (solitary, generalized, annular, linear), morphology (macules, papules ...
