Miffy (Dutch: Nijntje, pronounced [ˈnɛiɲtɕə]) is a fictional rabbit appearing in a series of picture books drawn and written by Dutch artist Dick Bruna. The original Dutch name, "nijntje", is a shortening of the diminutive konijntje, "little rabbit". The first Miffy book was produced in 1953 and over thirty others have followed.
The Big Snooze is a 1946 Warner Bros. Looney Tunes cartoon planned by Bob Clampett and finished by Arthur Davis, who were both uncredited as directors. [1] It features Bugs Bunny and Elmer Fudd, voiced by Mel Blanc and Arthur Q. Bryan. [2] Its title was inspired by the 1939 book The Big Sleep, and its 1946 film adaptation, also a Warner release.
The rabbit's hyperactive personality and laugh provided by Mel Blanc predated the 1940 Walter Lantz/Universal Pictures release Knock Knock which starred Andy Panda and introduced cartoon audiences to Woody Woodpecker, who was created for the Lantz studio by Hardaway after his departure from the Leon Schlesinger/Warner Bros. studio.
Animation critic Jerry Beck writes, "Nonstop action and gags, Acrobatty Bunny is a pure Bugs Bunny cartoon, demonstrating what the rabbit does best: using his brains to heckle an aggressive bully and stay one step ahead of his opponent. Robert McKimson's very first Bugs Bunny cartoon is one of the funniest ever made." [4]
