The Center Meetinghouse occupies a prominent site in the center of Newbury's main village, overlooking the southern end of Lake Sunapee at the eastern corner of the junction of New Hampshire Routes 103 and 103A. It is a single-story wood-frame structure, with a gabled roof and clapboarded exterior.
South Newbury is an unincorporated community in the town of Newbury in Merrimack County, New Hampshire, United States. It is located along New Hampshire Route 103, 3 miles (5 km) southeast of the main village of Newbury. Route 103 continues east to the towns of Bradford and Warner.

Established in 1987 for migratory bird conservation, the John Hay National Wildlife Refuge was split in 2008. The northern two-thirds of the property (containing the buildings and surrounding grounds) was transferred to The Fells in that year in exchange for lands in northern New Hampshire which were added to the Umbagog National Wildlife Refuge.
