Detroit Lake is a lake, locally known as Big Detroit and Little Detroit, has two distinct basins that are separated by a shallow gravel bar. At 3,067 acres, Detroit Lake is the largest lake within the Pelican River Watershed District and lies entirely within the city of Detroit Lakes , Minnesota municipal boundaries.
Detroit Lake is stocked by the Oregon Department of Fish and Wildlife with 125,000 catchable rainbow trout along with fingerling rainbow, kokanee and chinook salmon. [5] A self-sustaining population of brown bullhead catfish resides in the lake. Detroit Lake offers year-round fishing in still water and not in or near the rivers and streams.
It is located on Oregon Route 22 about 3.5 miles (5.6 km) west of the town of Detroit, Oregon. Because it is on the north shore of Detroit Lake, it is administered as part of Detroit Lake State Park, even though it is about 1.5 miles (2.4 km) west of the park's boundary. Facilities include a boat ramp, swimming area, fishing area and picnic area.
