Mohawk Airlines was a local service carrier operating in the Mid-Atlantic region of the United States, mainly in New York and Pennsylvania, from the mid-1940s until its acquisition by Allegheny Airlines in 1972.
In the 1940s, Utica Municipal Airport was a sod field (no paved runways) at ; Oneida County Airport may not have opened until after. In the 1960s, Mohawk Airlines stopped at Utica as did its successor Allegheny Airlines in the 1970s and Empire Airlines in the 1980s; the first jets were Mohawk BAC One-Elevens in 1965.
Powered by Rolls-Royce Dart engines, the Grumman I-C was used by Air North on routes requiring greater speed and passenger capacity than was possible with the airline's Shorts 330s. Air North was one of the very few airlines to ever operate the Gulfstream I-C propjet in scheduled passenger service.
