Robertson Barracks is a major Australian Army base in Holtze, a suburb of Darwin in the Municipality of Litchfield, about 15 km (9.3 mi) east of the Darwin city centre. The army barracks, named after Field Marshal Sir William Robertson, were established when RAF Swanton Morley was handed over to the British Army in 1995. [6] In April 1998, it became the base of the 9th/12th Royal Lancers, [7] who were replaced by the Light Dragoons in August 2000.
The regiment is currently based at Ypres Lines, Robertson Barracks, Palmerston; [7] however, the 102nd battery is based at the Royal Australian Air Force base, Edinburgh. The gun troops are currently equipped with M777 LWH. In January 2014, the 102nd Coral Battery relocated from RAAF Base Edinburgh to Robertson Barracks. [11]
The 1st Aviation Regiment is one of the Australian Army's three Army Aviation regiments and provides aerial reconnaissance and fire support to the Australian Army.
