West Forsyth was built in 1964 after the merger of the Winston-Salem School District and Forsyth County School District. It originally served as the new home for students of Southwest High School (now Southwest Elementary), which is located within walking distance from the campus. In the beginning, only six buildings existed at West (100–600).
West Forsyth currently competes in the GHSA Region 6-AAAAAAA [6] in all sports, except for lacrosse, in which it competes in Area 3-AAAAAA, [7] and has since 2010.. WFHS has varsity sports teams in competition cheerleading, cross country, football, softball, volleyball, basketball, swimming, wrestling, baseball, golf, lacrosse, track, tennis, soccer and gymnastics.
Wilson attended West Forsyth High School in Clemmons, North Carolina. He originally committed to play college football at the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill before switching to the University of Georgia. [2] [3] [4]
The 2023 Classic consisted of eleven games, four of which were played at Mercedes Benz Stadium in Atlanta, two at Rome's Barron Stadium, two at Kell High School, two at West Forsyth High School, and one at Fellowship Christian School. The teams play to help raise money for the Corky Kell Scholarship Fund.
On June 30, 2015, LaRue was named the new men's basketball coach at West Forsyth High School. West Forsyth was attended by Chris Paul, another former Wake Forest player. LaRue retired from coaching in 2019 and is now the Chief Operations Officer of Dairi-O Restaurants.

Delp grew up in Cumming, Georgia and attended West Forsyth High School. [1] As a junior, he caught 43 passes for 730 yards and nine touchdowns. [2] Delp had 59 receptions for 923 yards and eight touchdowns in his senior season and was selected to play in the 2022 All-American Bowl.
He attended West Forsyth High School where he was a first-team all-state selection. Rivals.com ranked him the fourth-best defensive end recruit nationally and the best player in the state. [1] After graduating, he announced his commitment to play college football at the University of North Carolina in November 2014. [2]
