The R304 between the village of Koelenhof and the N1 en-route to Stellenbosch. Its north-western origin is a junction with the R307 (Dassenberg Drive) adjacent to Mamre Nature Garden north of Atlantis (south of Mamre).
The R310 begins in Muizenberg at an intersection with the M4 (Main Road). It runs east, hugging the coast (), bypassing Mitchell's Plain and Khayelitsha.It then veers inland, heading north-east and meets the N2 highway at an off-ramp skirting Eersterivier to the east to reach Stellenbosch.
The M23 (Bottelary Road) which begins at the intersection with the R304 just outside Stellenbosch connects the town with Kuilsrivier, Brackenfell and Bellville to the north-west. Bird Street is the main street through Stellenbosch Central stretching for about 2 kilometres in a north–south direction.

The R44 begins in Piketberg at a roundabout junction with the N7 national route and the R365 road.It begins by heading east-south-east as Kerk Street to leave the town. It heads for 24 kilometres to the town of Porterville, where it turns to the south and passes through the town before heading another 35 kilometres, bypassing Saron, to reach the town of Gouda.
About half of the residents of the municipality live in Stellenbosch and its suburbs, which have a total population of 77,476. [4] The second-largest town is Franschhoek with 15,616 residents. [5] Klapmuts (pop. 7,703) is situated on the northern edge of the municipality next to the N1 national road.
