Chanute (/ ʃ ə ˈ n uː t /) is a city in Neosho County, Kansas, United States. [1] Founded on January 1, 1873, it was named after railroad engineer and aviation pioneer Octave Chanute. [6] [7] As of the 2020 census, the population of the city was 8,722. [4] [5] Chanute is home of Neosho County Community College.

The Chanute Campus of NCCC allows students to live on campus and have a dinner plan. This campus is more designed for full-time traditional students. It is also the larger of the two campuses. The Ottawa campus is different from Chanute campus in that the former has no housing available.
