Ventura County Library is a free public library system of 12 community libraries and a museum library in Ventura County, California, organized in 1916. [1] At the time of its centennial in 2016, the system provided access to 412,715 physical volumes and more than 500,000 virtual items to its nearly 300,000 card holders.

On March 31, 2007, the library opened in a state-of-the-art building at 4101 Las Posas Road. [2] On October 13, 2010, the Camarillo City Council voted to leave the Ventura County Library system, [3] and the City of Camarillo Public Library opened as a municipal library on January 3, 2011. [4]
There are three branches of the Ventura County Library in the City of Ventura: E.P. Foster Library [74] [75] on Main Street, Avenue Library [76] on Ventura Avenue, and Hill Road Library on the east side of the city. [77] Saticoy Library [78] is in the unincorporated area of Saticoy outside the east end of the city of Ventura.
The Albert H. Soliz Library in the community is a branch of the Ventura County Library system. [25] Poet and novelist Michele Serros a book-signing event here in 2006 when her young-adult novel “Honey Blonde Chica” was published. She remarked "This library was my home away from home when I was growing up."
The county library also includes the Research Library of the Museum of Ventura County. In addition, six cities within the county operate their own city libraries that are independent of the county system: Camarillo , Moorpark, Oxnard , Santa Paula, Simi Valley, and Thousand Oaks .
