[2] It is included in both the Lewiston-Auburn, Maine metropolitan statistical area and the Lewiston–Auburn, Maine Metropolitan New England city and town area. The town of Lisbon includes the villages of Lisbon and Lisbon Falls.
Lisbon is a census-designated place (CDP) in the town of Lisbon, Androscoggin County, Maine, United States. It is one of the two main villages in the town, the other being Lisbon Falls . Lisbon village is in the western half of the town of Lisbon and is located on the Sabattus River , a south-flowing tributary of the Androscoggin River .
According to the U.S. Census Bureau, the county has a total area of 497 square miles (1,290 km 2), of which 468 square miles (1,210 km 2) is land and 29 square miles (75 km 2) (5.9%) is water. [5] It is the second-smallest county in Maine by total area, after neighboring Sagadahoc County.
Maine State Route 126 forms the southern edge of the CDP; the highway leads west 6 miles (10 km) to the center of Lewiston and northeast 20 miles (32 km) to Gardiner. State Route 9 runs south from Sabattus 9 miles (14 km) to Lisbon Falls and follows Route 126 northeast to Gardiner. Sabattus was first listed as a CDP prior to the 2020 census. [2]
The Worumbo Mill was a historic mill on the bank of the Androscoggin River in Lisbon Falls, Maine. Founded in 1864, it was at one point the community's largest employer. Its main building, dating to its founding, was destroyed by fire in 1987. The complex was listed on the National Register of Historic Places in 1973, and was delisted in 2017. [1]
It is included both the Lewiston-Auburn, Maine Metropolitan Statistical Area and the Lewiston-Auburn, Maine Metropolitan New England City and Town Area. The community is located along Maine State Route 133 and the Androscoggin River, 22 miles (35 km) north of Lewiston. East Livermore has a post office with ZIP code 04228. [2] [3]
