Brooks is a city in southeast Alberta, Canada in the County of Newell. It is on Highway 1 ( Trans-Canada Highway ) and the Canadian Pacific Kansas City railway, approximately 186 km (116 mi) southeast of Calgary , and 110 km (68 mi) northwest of Medicine Hat .

The park is 51,631 hectares (127,583 acres) in size. Brooks Peninsula is located about 20 kilometres (12 mi) southwest of Port Alice, British Columbia. Access to the park is by boat or float plane. Brooks Peninsula juts 20 kilometres (12 mi) into the Pacific Ocean and has a rugged and varied coastline, with long fjords and sandy beaches.

The second of the 1A routes, known as the Bow Valley Trail, begins in Canmore, off of the Trans-Canada Highway at exit 91. It formerly began at the Trans-Canada Highway at exit 86 and passed through Canmore; however, ownership of the section was transferred to the Town of Canmore. Lake Newell is a large man-made reservoir in southern Alberta, Canada. It is located 14 kilometres (8.7 mi) south of the city of Brooks, east of Veteran Highway. The reservoir was filled in 1914 through the construction of the Bassano Dam. It was named after T.H. Newell, a landowner and irrigation expert. [1]
