Metropolitan Parkway or Metro Parkway is a major thoroughfare in Metro Detroit that stretches west from Lake St. Clair Metropark to Bloomfield Township. Metro Parkway corresponds to 16 Mile Road in Metro Detroit's mile road system, and is sometimes referred to as such by area residents, but it is rarely officially called 16 Mile.
Shelby Township is in western Macomb County and is bordered to the west by the cities of Rochester and Rochester Hills in Oakland County. The cities of Utica and Sterling Heights border the township to the south. Mount Clemens, the Macomb county seat, is 11 miles (18 km) to the southeast, and downtown Detroit is 24 miles (39 km) to the south.
Washington Township is in northwestern Macomb County and is bordered to the west by Oakland County. The village of Romeo is partially in the northeast part of the township. Ray Township is to the east, Shelby Township is to the south, and Bruce Township is to the north. Washington Township is 28 to 34 miles (45 to 55 km) north of downtown Detroit.
Macomb Mall was developed in 1964 by the Schostak Brothers of Detroit, Michigan. The mall opened with Sears, Crowley's, and Kresge as its anchor stores. [1] [2] The next year, a two-screen movie theater opened near Sears. [3] An expansion completed in 1986 added a third anchor store, MainStreet (sold to Kohl's in 1989) and over 40 new stores. [4]
