At the time, sales among the nearly 250 stores were thought to be between $180 and $200 million annually with approximately 1,800 employees. On November 14, 2019, Forever 21 announced it would be closing its South Bay Galleria location as the retailer closes 111 stores nationwide as part of its Chapter 11 bankruptcy. It closed in January 2020.
