Hotel Alfonso XIII is a historic hotel in Seville, Spain, located on Calle San Fernando , next to the University of Seville. [1] Designed by the architect José Espiau y Muñoz [ es ] , it was built between 1916 and 1928 especially for the Ibero-American Exposition of 1929 .
The Casco Antiguo (Spanish: Ancient Shell) is the old quarter of Seville, in the centre of the city on the east bank of the Guadalquivir river. Santa Cruz is bordered by the Jardines de Murillo, the Real Alcázar, Calle Mateos Gago, and Calle Santa María La Blanca/San José. The neighbourhood is the location of many of Seville's oldest churches and is home to the Cathedral of Seville, including the converted minaret of the old Moorish mosque Giralda.
The most important art collection of Seville is the Museum of Fine Arts of Seville. It was established in 1835 in the former Convent of La Merced . It holds many masterworks by Murillo , Pacheco , Zurbarán , Valdés Leal , and others masters of the Baroque Sevillian School, containing also Flemish paintings of the 15th and 16th centuries.
