Refrigerator is always level. Facts: Works 100% on electric and 12 V. Orifice has been cleaned. Burner has been cleaned. Flue has been cleaned.
If yours is a 3-way, you have the option of running on 12v as long as the engine is running to boost the 12v power available. A 12v fridge uses a lot of amps! And you can also use a small inverter and run it in 120v mode. Your RV fridge 120v requirement is under 300 watts unless you have one of the 12-14 cubic foot models.
Calgary, Alberta. Petey/59: Yeah, there is no need for a 3 way fridge. Running it on 12V takes SO MUCH power that your batteries will be depleted in short order. Propane is a much better idea when you don't have shore power. About the only time you can't use propane is if you are on a ferry somewhere, or are parking underground.
A 3 way refrigerator will also RUN on battery power, but really sucks the batteries down fast as it is about a 400 watt running load, though perhaps has a place when being used in a vehicle that moves around a lot, where there is an engine alternator running that can keep up with this demand. 13. Ned said: Don't confuse the RV style refrigerator with residential type compressor units. 3 way means propane, 120VAC and 12VDC, while 2 way is just propane and 120VAC. Both are absorption type cooling units. Compressor models are 120VAC only and use no propane, thus are a 1 way refrigerator.
Nanaimo, BC. I have a 2007 E350 Pleasureway with a Dometic RM2354 3 way fridge. It seems to work fine on AC or Gas but not on DC. I have the Service manual and I am a little confused. Note that I am an automotive tech so I understand diagnostic process and wiring. There are 3 wiring diagrams in the manual.
Port Orchard, WA. I have a Dometic RM 3801 3-way refrigerator that runs perfectly on AC shore power. But it just recently stopped working on propane, and had never worked on 12 volt. Propane: I checked the obvious (level, propane full and turned on, etc.). The propane valve is turned on at the back of the refrigerator.
Since the fridge works on propane, then it gets the 12V DC just fine for the control board, so the fuse is good. What you are missing is the 120V AC, and it comes through a circuit breaker, not a fuse. As Bill (HueyPilot) says, you can, indeed, plug the fridge into the house via an extension cord -- same type power.
