Mason County is a county in the U.S. state of Illinois. According to the 2020 census, it had a population of 13,086. [1] Its county seat is Havana. [2] The county is named in honor of George Mason, a member of the Virginia legislature who campaigned for the adoption of the United States Bill of Rights.
Havana is located in western Mason County on the Illinois River. U.S. Route 136 passes through the city as Dearborn Street, South Promenade Street, and East Laurel Street, leading east 24 miles (39 km) to San Jose and west 40 miles (64 km) to Macomb. US 136 crosses the Illinois River on the Scott Wike Lucas Bridge.

Bath is in southwestern Mason County, on a low bluff overlooking the Illinois River valley to the west. Illinois Route 78 passes through the village center as Oak Street, leading northeast (upriver) 9 miles (14 km) to Havana, the county seat, and south 10 miles (16 km) to Chandlerville.
