If it is over $600 it is required. Of course once a 1099-C is issued, no one can ever collect on that debt again.

    I plan to dispute the legitimacy of the charge off, the amount stated on the 1099-C, and how it is now reported to the credit bureaus. I am considering litigation or arbitration of the dispute.
