Walyalup Koort, formerly known as Kings Square (or King's Square), is a town square in Fremantle, Western Australia. It is bounded by Queen , Newman, William, and Adelaide Streets. Though the square was originally a public reserve , it has been the site of Saint John's Church of England since 1843, and the Fremantle Town Hall since 1887.
In January 2013, the hotel was acquired by Primewest Management for $88.5 million, [11] [failed verification] [citation needed] and Rydges were appointed to manage the property. It is now known as the Esplanade Hotel Fremantle by Rydges. [12] [full citation needed] In June 2024 it was sold to the grandson of Alan Bond for $116.5 million. [13]

In late January 2014 Leighton Properties started construction on the King Square precinct on the former Perth Entertainment Centre site. Four office buildings were constructed with Shell Australia, John Holland Group, P&N Bank and HBF as tenants. [10] [11] In May 2013, three of the buildings were sold to the Dexus Property Group. [12]
It was built in 1966 by the Gradisen family, a Dutch migrant family who had migrated to Australia in 1951. [2] The person responsible for it being built was the park's director at the time, John Beard, who was also responsible for setting up the park's botanic gardens. [1]
