Napa belts are generally Gates brand belts. In the past, I think the Dayco belts weren't as good as they are now. I remember the Dayco belts looking cheap and the printing on them was always off center and the fibers were always random and crooked. They've gotten much better. As a matter of fact, I was surprised to see them on Ferrari as OEM belts.

Dayco’s lab tests have shown that Dayco belts are as durable and noise resistant as the competitor’s belt products. Since almost all belt suppliers use belt constructions utilizing EPDM rubber compounds, the flex life and overall durability of belts are very similar. The failure mode that is most prevalent in belt systems is noise, and the ...

Dayco belts have been redesigned. .... many/most applications the belts will be too short for the given part number. I struggled to replace the serp belt on my daughter's 99 Ranger with a Dayco, until I finally gave up and tried a Gates which slipped right on perfectly. Exactly that -- the Dayco was just too short for the application.

Gates, Dayco, Bando, and Continental now dominate the global market with nearly all OE belts being made by one of the four. Like others have said Goodyear belts was purchased by Continental and Bando is a proper Japanese supplier. Just buy a regluar belt from one of those comanies and don't get sucked into buying one of their premuim or elite ...

I have a Ford Edge, it's time to replace the belts, as they are starting to get glazed over and squeal a little bit when cold, what brand do you recommend? I'm going to have the tensioner done at the same time? Which brand, at one time Gates was a good brand.. Motorcraft, Gates, Dayco or Continental.

Previously, the Duralast belts were made by Goodyear in Mexico. Today, Dayco is supplying AZ with their Duralast brand as well as the Dayco National brand Poly Rib "W" belt. BTW, all made in the USA. The Duralast belt is an OE quality belt made to standard OE specifications.

  10. Sepentine Belt: Gates v. Goodyear v. Dayco | BobIsTheOilGuy

FL. Oct 3, 2009. #8. Gates or Dayco IMO. Many OEM products are also made by those two. The Goodyear gatorback design seems a bit noiser than the Dayco poly-cog style. A Gates usually has a flocking like material between the ribs that I assume serves the same purpose.

  11. Dayco timing belts OK? | BobIsTheOilGuy

31,937. Location. MA, Mittelfranken.de. Nov 5, 2020. #8. Dayco timing belts are fine, for many Euro engines even the tensioner is reboxed brand name made in Europe. Small production runs makes it cheaper to rebox even OE than start a new line, probably not the same with Japanese or domestic stuff.
